CMS provides HCRIS source data files and documentation for the 2010 and 1996 version of the files. The Provider Reimbursement Manual versions 2540-10 and 2540-96 files have an instruction manual and worksheets.

CMS might consider the 2540-96 rollup files to be unreliable, and doesn't produce them for the 2540-10 release.
