Hospice Cost Reports - HCRIS HOSPC

CMS provides HCRIS source data files and documentation for the 1984-99 and 1984-14 versions of the files. The Provider Reimbursement Manual versions 1984-99 files have an instruction manual and worksheets.

This 1984-99 worksheet materials are helpful for identifying the worksheet, line, and columns of the variables.

Select variables from the cost reports is available in the files below. One of the variables included is ZIP Code. A ZIP Code distance database is available.

NBER affiliates can access this and other data through the NBER computing system.  Files can be located using the directory path of each download link replacing "https://data.nber.org/" with  "/homes/data/". For example, these HCRIS datasets can be found under "/homes/data/hcris/" on the internal NBER computer cluster.
