NB24-05: Designing Digital Retirement Outreach Programs Targeting Black, Hispanic, and White Workers
Blanco and Viceisza (2023, in progress), henceforth “BV”, are designing and testing a digital retirement outreach program among low to moderate income (LMI) Black, Hispanic, and White
workers in collaboration with the Understanding America Study (UAS, an online panel). The main aims of the proposed project are to: (1) Refine the intervention based on lessons learned from BV: The intervention that is currently being piloted is likely to shed light on alternative ways of designing digital outreach to a community sample. (2) Implement the intervention among a community sample: The revised outreach program will be piloted with a community sample of 450-900 LMI workers, recruited via community organizations.1 (3) Mentor Black
women collegiate scholars: Spelman College is a historically Black college and university (HBCU) for women. Since joining Spelman in 2012, Viceisza has established VLab, a virtual lab that has engaged more than 30 Spelman students in research (https://bit.ly/31YNt6S). Spelman students and possibly Pepperdine minority students will work with Blanco and Viceisza on this project.
The steps that will lead to the completion of the project are as follows:
● Mentoring of RAs.
● Experiment design and IRB renewal.
● Recruitment of subjects.
● Intervention/primary data collection.
● Data analysis.
● Write final paper and non-technical report.
