The goal of this project is to catalyze innovation-science research by enhancing the capabilities of scholars and broadening the diversity of participants in the field. The project aims to expand the Innovation Information Initiative (I3) Fellows pilot program, enhance the I3 Index of open access innovation data, and continue facilitating the annual I3 Technical Working Group meetings. Key activities include increasing funding for junior scholars working on open-source innovation datasets and promoting the program more broadly. Additionally, the I3 platform will be improved to include validation datasets, provide tutorials on dataset selection, and ensure greater accessibility. The project will also sustain inclusive events that present new datasets and foster collaboration. Expected outcomes include an expanded and institutionalized I3 Fellow program, a more comprehensive and user-friendly I3 Index, and a more diverse I3 community. These efforts will lead to a wider range of accessible innovation datasets and tools, improved decision-making for scholars, and continued growth in the open access innovation research community.
