The COVID-19 crisis is unprecedented both in its roots and its scale, and in terms of the scale of policy measures being applied. The need for new knowledge is urgent. This project will use the real-time experience of this large disruptive change to “generating new insights into and learning about impacts that may be useful to society further down the line”, as called for in the Purpose section of the proposal text. This project adds to the emerging literature on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the labor market, using real-time online job vacancy postings coupled with real-time administrative data on hires and separations. To our knowledge this type of data has not been used before in a similar research setting in Norway. This gives us a unique opportunity to analyze how the impact of the COVID-19 crises evolves and affects the demand side of the labour market, in real-time.
