This project has two aims: to develop new researchers who are interested in the labor market consequences of an aging population, and in particular the challenges and opportunities of longer working lives; and to support a set of research projects that will provide new insights on these issues. The objectives are to recruit and support promising early career PhD economists with a targeted research interest in the aging workforce and the labor market activities of older workers, and to expand the set of research projects addressing these topics. In both cases, the research support is expected to lead to high-quality research that will be published in peer-reviewed journals. The project will support a post-doctoral fellow each year and enable that scholar to conduct independent research on the aging workforce while also receiving mentoring and research guidance from a senior scholar. It will also support two research projects each year by researchers who are examining various aspects of the labor market for older workers.
