Promoting Research on Household Financial Behavior, 2020-2024

The project will support early-stage research projects by graduate students and junior faculty members who are studying household financial decisions. It will support meetings of the NBER Household Finance Working Group that will bring together research experts to discuss and extend the latest work on this topic. It will also promote researcher access to administrative data collected by firms by convening a research meeting that will include researchers as well as industry experts and foster a dialogue on ways to facilitate data access for academic research on topics related to household finance. The project will promote the creation and dissemination of new knowledge on household finance. It will encourage researchers to work in the field, raise standards for work in this area, support networking among researchers interested in household finance, and help disseminate research findings to policy-makers and those in industry. It will also focus on attracting young researchers into the field and encourage the development of their research programs.
