This project will advance the use of big data – both administrative data and private sector data such as scanner data, payroll records, insurance records, medical record and other type of information – to improve the timeliness, quality and granularity of economic and social statistics. The project will inform the federal statistic agencies about new methods and new sources of data that could be incorporated into the production of government-provided statistics. It will foster collaboration among the producers of official statistics, the academic community and the private sector.
