The project will promote economic research that can inform public policy on energy infrastructure, with an initial focus on hydrocarbon transport and local energy distribution. The project will support a study group that will develop frameworks for analyzing energy infrastructure issues, as well as datasets and other resources that can be shared across the research community. The study group will generate a set of sixteen high quality research papers that will focus on two broad topic areas: hydrocarbon transport and local energy distribution. The researchers involved in this group will be drawn from the academic community, as well as government officials from institutions including the Energy Information Administration, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state Public Utilities Commissions.
