Further Aspects of the Legacy of Simon Kuznets

Simon Kuznets passed away in early July 1985 at the age of 84. His legacy includes not only his many books and articles but also the students he trained, many of whom became influential economists in their own right. Kuznets' work on national income accounting and the creation of measures of GDP are among his most lasting and influential contributions. There is also an institutional legacy, namely "The Development of the American Economy" (DAE), which sought to continue Kuznets' work on long-term factors promoting economic growth. DAE research was substantial and produced several significant achievements in its first decade.
